Getting ready for his own birthday party is lots of fun for Humphrey, especially when he is wearing his favourite birthday present a real superhero suit! He can't wait for the guests to arrive, or for the games and presents and delicious things to eat. But when everyone does arrive, Humphrey becomes rather shy, unlike Lottie who becomes over-excited and makes her little brother cry - on his birthday! She soon apologises and they all settle down for tea and the best bit of all - a fabulous birthday cake.

Sally Hunter's endearing character, Humphrey, started out life as a greetings card character. He is now the star of a range of Puffin books, bedding and baby clothes sold exclusively in Mothercare, ceramics, bath products and baby feeding ware. Sally's inspirations for Humphrey comes from memories of her own childhood together with the antics of her three children with who she lives in Hertfordshire.
