Sharon Creech is an American who lived in England for 19 years. She now lives in New Jersey, USA, where her husband is headmaster of a boarding school. Sharon is well known for her fiction for older children, Walk Two Moons was shortlisted for the 1995 Smarties Book Prize and won the 1995 Newbery Medal, awarded to 'the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children published in 1994'. It is also the winner of the 1995 Children's Book Award and the W H Smith Mind Boggling Books Award 1996. Her novel Ruby Holler won the 2002 Carnegie Medal.
